Candy cane stripped coat on this wood carved Santa holding a Christmas red bird

Each of my carvings are one of a kind. This candy cane painted coat began when I started carving the Santa figurine and then his coat. I carved the seams into the “fabric” of the robe. Then used different knives to cut the “folds “ in the coat. Each face is unique and the beards are all carved with various carving knives that give the beards a soft and flowing appearance. In this carving the treasure Santa is holding in his mittens is a small wreath I configured from pieces of twigs. Then I carved a small Cardinal which I placed on the wreath as though it was sitting there visiting Santa. Once my carvings are complete I hand paint them. The striped coat on this Santa is one that challenges my steady hand. Once painted, each figurine is hand sanded and finished with a stain that gives the carving it’s olde world, vintage appearance that highlights all of the folds and creases in the exterior of the figurine.
