I heard he was historically the photographer who sold his photos for the highest price. When I look at his photos, they're incredibly natural landscapes, but I also sense a certain unnaturalness mixed in. Apparently, he meticulously uses digital manipulation repeatedly. I asked a photographer friend what was so amazing about this person, and they told me, "The works are just HUGE!!!" It's a satisfying, perfect answer to hear the merits of someone's work and get "HUGE!!!" as a response. The "just" really conveys the impact of seeing it. Photography captures reality, yet it can be preserved from a third-party perspective, allowing for a more objective view of reality. I think that when that supposedly objective perspective is printed so large that you feel it in reality, it creates a kind of strange world. It seems like you'd get a weird illusion about which world's perspective you're in, and I'd really like to see it too.
